I always wondered how Adrianna and Richard got together...and this book, though short and fast-paced, didn't fail to give me what I wanted! I loved the deeper insight it gives you into SE (from Forbidden Call) and his disastrous first relationship, and the sense of loss he felt, not to mention the reason why Adri and Richard have no children themselves- and the smaller insight into the way families react to a shifter...
This is an excellent series about difficult choices, loyalty, love, learning who you are, and being true to yourself. One definition of sacrifice is giving up what you really want for something you want even more. This series tells the story of how sacrifice impacts the characters and the people around them. Note that in this version of today's world, shape shifters are a known part of the community, with a realistic mix of acceptance from many and prejudice from many more. With the exception of occasional language, the books are clean.
Each book, including this novellette, enhances the others, adding more depth to the events and the people. This addition to this well written and well edited series is well worth your time and the small cost.
I laughed and cried. Martha Bourke is a fabulous writer. She will hook you from book one and leave you wanting more!
Wonderful reading and sorry to have it end so fast, I wanted more! Great mind this writer has and to be able to put it in writing, wish I could....Keep them coming!
I just have to say it....... 2.5 prequel is really great... BUT Where is #3? List said out but I can't find it on , my site of choice.

It was Ok I suppose. I like her books a lot better"The New Breeds" At least those stories don't jump from one year to the next. I think a teenager could read this and find it interesting.
